Gold Karat Guide

Not sure which gold karat is right for you? Use the FORMÉS Gold Karat Cheat Sheet.

14 K or 585 Gold – Everyday Hero

  • 58.5 % pure gold + 41.5 % strengthening alloys

  • Light, modern hue (think champagne)

  • Tougher surface: resists most scratches and dents

  • Wallet-friendly and skin-friendly (nickel-free in our alloys)

  • Best for: wedding bands, stackers, “never-take-it-off” pieces

18 K or 750 Gold – Heirloom Classic

  • 75 % pure gold + 25 % lighter alloys

  • Rich, saturated color (think late-sunset glow)

  • Slightly softer; treat like a dress watch, not a tool watch

  • Higher intrinsic value—and a bit more prestige

  • Best for: milestone rings, statement pieces, future heirlooms

Quick Pick

  • Wear it daily? Choose 14 K.

  • Mark a big moment? Choose 18 K.

Whichever karat fits your rhythm, every FORMÉS piece is crafted from recycled gold and finished to the same exacting standards—sharp, balanced, intentional.

Note: In Lithuania and many other countries, 585 and 750 are fineness hallmarks (parts per thousand) equivalent to 14 K (58.5%) and 18 K (75%), respectively.
